Lifelong New Suffolk resident John J. Victoria died Dec. 6 at Stony Brook University Hospital. He was 89.

Born Oct. 12, 1922, in New Suffolk to Edward and Mary (Kreskowski) Victoria, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 and then became a sales manager at Polish Town Liquors in Riverhead.

He was affiliated with the Mattituck American Legion and the Marian Council of Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed clamming, scalloping and landscaping and loved his family.

Predeceased by his wife, Lucy, in 2006, Mr. Victoria is survived by daughters Ann (Larry) Ekster of Cutchogue and Barbara Solo of New Suffolk and son Peter (Judy), of Mattituck; his sister, Helen Horton of Mattituck; grandchildren Charles Solo, Michael (Patty), Christopher, Timothy and Michelle Ekster and Heather Victoria; and great-grandchildren Dylan Solo and Emily Ekster.

Visiting hours will be Thursday, Dec. 8, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Costner-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue. A service will take place Friday, Dec. 9, at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Ostrabama R.C. Church in Cutchogue. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Cutchogue Fire Department Rescue Squad will be appreciated.
