Alma Mae Johnson was born January 14, 1886 in Tennessee, daughter of John Wesley Johnson (1847-1926) and Nancy Elizabeth Walker (1846-1930).

On December 18, 1904. Alma married Marion Curtis Horner Sr., who was born April 8, 1881 in Morristown, Tennessee (Hamblen County), the eldest child of Winfield Scott Horner (1854-1921) and Emily Elizabeth Pierce (1861-1894).

Alma and Curtis had eight known children: Gillies Glen 'Jack' Horner (1907-1991); Flois W. Horner (1910-1993); John Wesley Horner (1912-1959); Fay Elizabeth Horner (1914-1992); Velma Paulene Horner (1918-2001); Thelma Irene Horner (1918-2012); Marion Curtis Horner Jr. (1921-1983); and Kenneth Horner (1930- ).

The World War I Draft Registration Cards show that Marion Curtis Horner register for the draft on September 12, 1918. He gave his full name; his age as 37; his birthdate as April 8, 1881; his closest relative as his wife, Alma Horner of Bonham, Texas; his current residence as Bonham, Texas; and his occupation as a farmer.

The 1920 Federal Census for Benningon, Oklahoma (Bryan County) shows Marion Curtis Horner, a farmer, age 37, born in Tennessee; and his wife, Alma, age 32, born in Tennessee. Living with them were six children: Gillies G. Horner, age 13, born in Texas; Flois Horner, age 9, born in Texas; Johnnie Horner, age 7, born in Texas; Fay Horner, age 4, born in Oklahoma; Pauline Horner, age 1, born in Texas; and Irene Horner, age 1, born in Texas.

The 1930 Federal Census for Benningon, Oklahoma (Bryan County) shows Curtis Horner, a farmer, age 49, born in Tennessee; and his wife, Alma, age 44, born in Tennessee. Living with them were seven children: Flois Horner, age 19, born in Texas; John Horner, age 17, born in Texas; Fay Horner, age 15, born in Oklahoma; Pauline Horner, age 11, born in Texas; Irene Horner, age 11, born in Texas; Curtis Horner Jr., age 8, born in Oklahoma; and Kenneth Horner, age 0, born in Oklahoma.

The 1940 Federal Census for Benningon, Oklahoma (Bryan County) shows M. C. Horner, a farmer, age 58, born in Tennessee; and his wife, Alma, age 54, born in Tennessee. Living with them were two children: Curtis Horner Jr., age 8, born in Oklahoma; and Kenneth Horner, age 0, born in Oklahoma. Also living in the household was a granddaughter, Louise Cummings, age 6, born in Oklahoma.
