Hallie Eugene Turner, age 76, of Anna, died on April 6, 2013 at 10:57AM at his residence. He was born on January 18, 1937, the son of Beaumont and Beatrice (Gaddis) Turner. They preceded him in death. He married Joan Carr on April 18, 1959. She preceded him in death on June 15, 2010. Hallie attended the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Anna. He was an active member of the Carroll P. Foster Post 3455 VFW in Anna. He enjoyed fishing and watching the Cardinals and Cubs. He cherished his immaculate yard and the car rides with his wife, Joan. He is survived by a daughter, Shari Vandersluis of Anna; a son, Hal Turner, Jr. of Sausalito, CA; 2 grandchildren, Devin and Taryn Vandersluis of Anna; 2 brothers, Edward (Phyllis) Turner of St. Louis, MO; and Thomas (Reva) Turner of Waterloo, IA; nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joan; and 1 brother, Richard Turner. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 5-7PM at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro. Funeral services will be on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 10AM at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro with Rev. Jonathon Whitley officiating. Interment will follow at Big Creek Cemetery with military honors by the Carroll P. Foster Post 3455 and the Illinois National Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to Big Creek Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home. Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro is in charge of the arrangements.
