William T. "Bill" Cline
William T. "Bill" Cline, 89, formerly of R. 4, died this morning, Oct 23 at Neosho Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health the last two weeks.

He was born Dec 27,, 1897 at Shaw, the son of John Edgar and Orpha D. Berger Cline. He grew up and attended schools in Neosho County. He married Ruth E. King March 3, 1919 at Iola. She and their son and daughter preceded him in death. He married Opal Looman Sharp April 9, 1950 at Huntsville, Arkansas.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWI. An engineer for Santa Fe Railway for 39 years. He retired Aug 31, 1963. He farmed until 1967.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Chanute, and Elks Lodge #806 and World War I Veterans.

Survivors include his wife, 915 W. Elm; a step-son, Garold Sharp, Concord, Calif.; a step-daughter, Wanda McGee, Chanute; one grand-daughter; three great grandchildren; eight step grandchildren and 19 step-great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two sisters.

Service is scheduled 2 p.m. Monday at Gibson-Koch Chapel, Chanute, Pastor Park Burkhart officiating. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials established to First Baptist Church, Chanute, or WWI Ladies Auxiliary may be left at Pierce Funeral Home, Erie, where friends may call until noon Monday. Pierce Funeral Home, Erie in charge of Arrangements.
