MARBLEHEAD - Mrs. Agatha (Foster) McKay, 78, of 4 Market Square, died Thursday in Salem Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late J. Donald McKay.

Born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, daughter of the late Henry and Mary Julia (Wilsen) Foster, she had been a resident of Marblehead for 48 years. She was an active member of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church for 48 years, serving on its lay committee and its administration board. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years, and was a charter member of the Women's Society of that church.

She was also a member of the Marblehead Senior Citizens.

She is survived by three sons, W.L. Donald McKay and John F. McKay, both of Marblehead, and Alden H. McKay of Miami, Fla.; six daughters, Mrs. Frederick E. (Jean C.) Dodge of Deerfield, N.H., Mrs. Robert A. (Joyce L.) Booth of Marblehead, Ms. Estelle I.E. McKay of Brookline, Mrs. Robert W. (Dorothy M.) Graves of Northwood, N.H., Mrs. Charles (Marilyn G.A.) Ploss of Lancaster, N.H., and Mrs. Alexander T. (Julie F.) Harrington of Melbourne, Australia; one sister, Mrs. Clarence A. (Estelle) Holmes of Lakeville, Mass.; 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Her funeral services will be held in St. Stephen United Methodist Church on Saturday at 2p.m.
