Oscar was born in the Riverside community in Clay county. He grew up there and was engaged in farming for several years before moving to Centerville in 1925. He worked at the Reugge Garage until 1942 when he began working at the Thompson Lumber Yard.
On February 17, 1934, he married Mabel Rocken of Onawa, Iowa.
He was a veteran of WWI and was a member of Co.A, 194th Depot Brigade of the US Army. He was a member of the Komstad Church and for many years was chairman of the Komstad Cemetery Improvement Association.
On December 21, Oscar passed away suddenly from a heart attack he suffered while waiting for a train with his wife near the depot in Cneterville. They had planned to take the train to Onawa, IA, to spend the Christmas holidays.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel, three sisters, Mrs. Clara Norgren of Centerville, Mrs, Laura Hanson and Mrs. Lillie Gulbrandson of LosAngeles, CA, and one brother, Eric W. Johnson of Inglewood, CA.
