Age 75, the son of the late Dr. Richard and Ellen McNamee Cooney. A lifelong Erie resident, he had served with the US Marine Corps. Edwin retired in 1991 from Erie's General Electric where he had been employed for over 25 years. Bud was an avid golfer and enjoyed his pets.
He was preceded in death by his wife Wilma M. Reese Cooney; a daughter Kimberley E. Lyons and an infant brother Joseph Cooney.
He is survived by a son Mark E. Cooney (Nichole) of Germantown, Md.; two daughters; Cynthia A. Toflinski (Timothy) of Toledo, Ohio and Michele M. Cooney of Erie; siblings: Dick Cooney (Janet) of Erie; Bill Cooney (Mary Lou) of Erie; Maura Wiltse (Bill) of Erie; C. Daniel Cooney (Jo) of Okala, Fla. and Sarah Kearney (Brian) of Grove City; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
