Kay Trafton Morgan, Jackson, Mississippi, age 76, died April 9, 2013 of Pulmonary Fibrosis.

A visitation will be at Wright and Ferguson Parkway- Ridgeland, MS on Wednesday April 10 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Graveside Burial Service will be held in Birmingham, Ala., on Thursday, April 11 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elmwood Cemetery at 600 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Visitation 30 minutes prior to service. A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, April 20th at St Andrews by the Sea in Destin, FL.

She was born in Norfolk, Virginia on May 8, 1936 to Mabel and Earl Trafton. Kay was raised in Birmingham and attended Shades Valley High School. She majored in education at the University of Alabama (Class of 1958) and was a member of Phi Mu sorority. After college, she married John Morgan and they moved to Jackson, Mississippi. She taught Home Economics and other various subjects for 23 years in the Rankin County School System at Pisgah High School. While in Jackson, she was a member of St. Phillips Episcopal Church and served on the Altar Guild.

Kay and John retired to Destin, Florida in 1996 where they enjoyed their coastal retirement. Kay was a Board member of the Dolphin Point Condo Association, a member of Destin Woman's Club, and especially loved her bridge groups in Destin. She served on the Altar Guild at St Andrews by the Sea Episcopal Church where she was a member. Kay enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and took them all on a special family cruise to the Caribbean before she got too ill. Kay moved back to Mississippi in March of 2012. She was a communicant of St Columbs Episcopal Church in Ridgeland, MS.

She was also an active member of the Alabama Alumni Association and enjoyed attending Alabama football and tailgating with her friends. This past fall was the first Alabama homecoming game she had missed in 57 years. She loved the Alabama Crimson Tide!

Kay is survived by her 3 children, Blair Morgan (Nancy) of Ridgeland, MS; Bill Morgan (Tay) of Jackson, MS and Leigh Morgan of Birmingham, AL, her 2 grandchildren, Meggie Morgan and Cossar Morgan of Jackson, MS. She is also survived by her brother, Earl Trafton (Eleanor) of Birmingham, AL and her sister-in-law, Camille Morgan of Destin, FL; nephew, Charles Morgan (Carla) of Destin, FL, nieces Kathy Leaver of Birmingham, AL; Patty Grossman and Peggy Trafton of Lexington, KY, and cousin Joyce Flowers of North Carolina and a host of special nephews, nieces and cousins that were all very dear to her.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband John B. Morgan, of Destin, Florida and her parents Mabel and Earl Trafton of Birmingham, AL.
