Beverly-- Lester C. Ayers, 84, superintendent of schools for the Beverly School Dep't. for 15 years, died Monday following a brief illness.
Born in Beverly, son of the late John E. and Rosanna (Kelly) Ayers, he lived here all his life.
Formerly taught history for the Danvers School System.
Was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, and a member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church.
Surving him, are his brother, Ralph V. Ayers; a niece, Janice Quinn; grandnephew,John Quinn; two grandnieces, Martha Quinn and Eileen Freeman, all of Michigan.
Funeral Mass at St. Mary Star of the Sea. Burial in No. Beverly Cemetery.
