OBITUARY:
CONDON, Oreg. - Hazel L. Adams, 97, former longtime Grass Valley resident, died in Condon on Monday (Feb. 5, 2007).

She was born April 7, 1909 at Fall Branch to the daughter of Tolbert Arthur and Dorthula Beatrice Graham Cline. She attended grade school in Illinois and Indiana before moving back to Tennessee to complete her schooling at Mitchell Springs and Sulpher Springs.

In 1926, she married George Thomas McClain; he preceded her in death in 1935. In 1946, she moved with her two daughters to Steptoe Washington where she worked at the Hotel Colfax coffee shop. She married Jack Adams in 1947 and the couple moved to Grass Valley in 1948. They lived for a short time in Kent, Wash., and moved back to Grass Valley and bought the 97 Caf. They divorced in 1965 and she continued to run the Caf for many years before selling it to Carol and Virgil Grout. She lived in Grass Valley until 2004 when she moved to Condon to live with her daughter, Juanita Hartley and husband, Harry.

Mrs. Adams enjoyed all types of games, especially bridge, traveling and fishing. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors omitted

She was preceded in death by her husband, George T. McClain; daughter, Thelma L. Clough; son, George T. McClain II; sisters, Wilma Harris and Mildred Rush; brothers, Virgil Cline and Cecil Cline.

A memorial service will be held at Grass Valley in March.

Memorial contributions for those who wish may be made to the Hospice of the donor's choice or to the charity of the donor's choice.
