James Pierce (Jim) Freeman, Jr., USN (ret.), age 67 of Seguin, passed away on April 8, 2013. A memorial service celebrating Jim's life will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Walnut Street Church of Christ with Mr. Alan Tullis officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. Private interment will be held at a later date in San Geronimo Cemetery. Jim was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 23, 1945 to James P. Freeman, Sr. and Opaldean Young Freeman Zelinski. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy beginning on August 31, 1964 during the Vietnam War and retiring on April 31, 1984. He worked in the cellular industry as an operations manager, a job which he loved until his retirement in July 2008 where he chose to stay home and be Mr. Mom including staying actively involved at Walnut Street Church of Christ and volunteering with projects and events at Lifegate Christian School where his daughters attend. He is preceded in death by his father, his step-father, Adam Zelinski and mother-in-law, Pauline Armstrong Lindsey. Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years Christi Freeman; sons, Jay Freeman and Shane Freeman; daughters, Alaiya Freeman and Katelynne Freeman; grandchildren, Christina Stryker and Layne Freeman; daughters-in-law, Jeanne Stryker and Allison Freeman; mother, Opaldean Freeman Zelinski; sisters, Patsy Nolte and husband Ken; Sandy Rice and husband Paul, Debbie Brown and husband Steve; uncles, Ed Young and wife Joyce and Fred Young and wife Jean; father-in-law, Howard Smith and wife Peggy; step-father-in-law, Cecil Lindsey; brother-in-law, Paul Smith and wife Judye; step-sister-in-law, Joy Kelly and husband Chris; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and a host of friends. Jim would approve of casual attire at his funeral. Jim was truly loved and will be missed by many – Anchors Aweigh! Memorial contributions may be made to the Walnut Street Church of Christ, 1351 E.
