Abigail is the first wife of Luther Barney and the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Lothrop Winship.
The following is from the "Genealogy of the BARNEY FAMILY in America", page 58:
"235. LUTHER BARNEY, son of John and Sarah (Luther) Barney, was born March 4, 1757, at or near Norwich, Conn. He died at Ellery, Chautauqua Co, New York September 30, 1844, aged 87 years, 6 months, 27 days. He married on 5 September 1779, Abigail Winship the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Lathrop) Windship, of Norwich Conn. She was born January 20, 1758; died January 25, 1799.

Luther Barney was a soldier in the American Revolution war, and was captured by the British and put on board the ship "Iris," which the French fleet under De Grasse captured. Luther Barney was impressed by the French to serve. This French control of access by sea played a major role in the surrender of British Cornwallis, ending the War.
