Dorothy L. Nail, 84, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away at 1:29 p.m., Friday, April 12, 2013, at Via Christi Village, Pittsburg.

She was born on December 2, 1928, at Pittsburg, KS, the daughter of George R. and Ruby L. (Cook) Nail.

She attended Pittsburg schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1947.

Ms. Nail was employed by S.H. Kress Co. from 1947 until 1959.

She moved to Kansas City, MO in 1959 where she attended and graduated from Saint Luke's Hospital School of Radiologic Technology as a nationally registered technologist R.T.R. She worked 33 years at Saint Luke's Hospital as a technologist and Diagnostic Department Supervisor until her retirement in 1993.

She returned to Pittsburg in 1996.

While living in Kansas City, Ms. Nail was an active member of Westport United Methodist Church. She served on numerous committees and a task force to how best to minister to the homeless.

Ms. Nail was one of the three founding members of Neighbor to Neighbor receiving a Certificate of Appreciation for her faithful service ministering to the needy of the community.

Ms. Nail is a member of The First United Methodist Church, Pittsburg. She served on several committees and projects but preferred to volunteer and work anywhere she was needed.

She is a member of The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, American Society of Radiologic Technologists and the AARP.

She also enjoyed joining friends from P.H.S. Class of 47 for bi-monthly lunches.

She is survived by a beloved nephew, John Brett Stacy and his wife, Annette of Pittsburg, who helped provide for her care, a great niece, Brittany Stacy of Pittsburg, a brother-in-law, J. B. Stacy of Frontenac.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Margaret Stacy.
