Edwin Wagner Smith, 96, formerly of Hazleton, passed away at his home in Berwick on Sunday morning.
Born in Hazleton on Feb. 26, 1914, he was a son of the late Aaron O. and Dora Wagner Smith and a 1932 graduate of Hazleton High School. He lived in Hazleton until relocating to Berwick in the late 1960s. Throughout his working life, Edwin had been employed as an industrial mechanic both locally and in Newark, N.J. He retired from Tungsol Electric in 1979.
Edwin was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hazleton and attended Bethany United Methodist Church in Berwick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Helen Katchmarick; and his second wife, the former Freda Long; as well as a sister, Lois D. Smith; a son-in-law, Robert N. Citro; and a stepson, Bruce Long.
No public viewing is planned. However, friends and family are invited to attend a gravesite service that will be held in the Ss. Peter and Paul Slovak Lutheran Church, located at Laurel Hill Terrace in Hazleton, that will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m.
