A native of NC, Capt. McEachin joined the Confederate Army from Marion, AL (where his parents were living at the time) as first lieutenant of the Sixth Alabama Cavalry, transferred to the Quartermaster Dept. June 16, 1863 as Captain, where he served in Savannah, Georgia until the end of the war. Issued/published Janu.1, 1878, the first number of The Southern Law Journal, and was author of "The History of Tuscaloosa 1816-1880." President of the Alabama Bar Association 1891-92. A Presbyterian and Democrat. Married Janu.2, 1861, to Eudora Somerville of Tuscaloosa, AL.
