BRUNS - Ernest F. Bruns, 77, 1117 Eastview Road died at 5 p.m. Friday, June 15, 1979 in St. Anthony Hospital after a short illness. Born December 7, 1901 in Covington, Oklahoma, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Bruns. Lived in Rockford 53 years, coming here from Oklahoma. Married to the former Evelyn M. Kelley in Rockford, May 1, 1930. Employed as Engineer by Barber-Colman Co. 35 years, retiring in 1966. Member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; a daughter, Ms. Jean Bruns, Rockford; a son, Paul, a Missionary in Ogola, Nigeria; three grandchildren; Pamela, Jeffrey and Paula, all in Ogola, Nigeria; a brother, Henry, Houston, Texas; two sisters; Lydia Wiegert, Pecatonica and Wilhemina Bullington, Los Angeles, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by a granddaughter Lisa, two brothers and a sister and his parents.
Services at 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 19, in Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Rub and Vicar Mark Pfieughoeft Pastors officiating. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Fred C. Olson Mortuary, 2002 2nd Ave. and from 1 p.m. until service time, Tuesday at the church. A memorial has been establised for the Nigerian Mission in care of the family in lieu of flowers.
