Delbert Foy Stayner, 79, born in Farmington, New Mexico on May 14, 1933 to Jesse J. and Luella C. Stayner and passed away at his home in Winton, California on April 9, 2013. Delbert moved from Farmington, New Mexico to Merced County in 1951.
Delbert served in the US Army from 1953 through 1957 as a Staff Sergeant. He worked in saw mills throughout California before starting work with the California Canners & Growers in 1961 to 1988. He then worked for Atwater Canning before he retired in 1995.
Delbert married Kay Augustine in 1960 and they had five children.
Delbert had a passion for camping with his family and friends and working next to his wife in their vegetable garden. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. He loved country music and animals.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Jerry Stayner and his son, Steven G. Stayner.
He will be missed by his wife, Kay Stayner; son, Cary Stayner; daughters, Cindy (Dan) Sartell, Jody (Allan) Cass, and Cory Stayner, his sisters, Maxine (Duane) Higgins, Anna (Bobby) Jones, and Sharon Higgins; his ten grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 AM on Friday, April 19, 2013 at Wilson Family Funeral Chapel in Atwater, California.
Followed by a Military burial at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
