Gales note: Emma Jane Turner and her brother Joseph H. Turner were married the same day and their parents hosted a reception afterwards at their home.

Obituary: The Troy Record, 26 December 1957 - In Memoriam Mrs. Emma Burgan 63, Stricken Fatally - Mrs. Emma Burgan, 63, of 238 Lincoln Ave., was pronounced dead on arrival yesterday afternoon at Samaritan Hospital, where she was taken from her home by Ambulance Service Corp. Coroner Anthony E. Matera said death was due to natural causes. The woman had been under the care of a physician, he stated. The fire department was rushed to the woman's home at 4:54 p.m. by Hoseman Frank Magnetto and Stephen Langlais of Central Fire Station.
Surviving Mrs. Burgan are a son, Thomas Jr. and a daughter, Mrs. Jane Maddux, both of Troy; a brother George Turner of Selkirk, a sister Miss Sarah Turner of Troy; four granddaughters and one grandson. The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Bryce Funeral Home, 1820 5th Ave. Interment will be in the Elmwood Hill Cemetery.
