John H. Baughn, 90, a lifelong resident of Martinsville, passed from this life on Monday, April 15, 2013 at the Community Hospital South in Indianapolis surrounded by the love of his family.

He was born January 15, 1923 in Centerton, IN to the late Elmer and Jose Ann (Dyer) Baughn.

John was a graduate of Martinsville High School and a WWII veteran, serving his country honorably in the US Army from 1943 until 1945.

He was a member of the River Valley Christian Church, Elks Lodge #1349 and the American Legion Post #230 all of Martinsville. He enjoyed golfing and gardening, especially growing strawberries and onions.

Mr. Baughn owned the former Johnson Music Company in Martinsville for over 40 years. He also took pleasure in horse racing and owned several race horses throughout the years.

He will be deeply missed and always remembered by his family and many friends including his wife, Joan (Trissel) Baughn of Martinsville, whom he married on December 2, 1967; four sons, John A. Baughn (wife, Kathy) of Martinsville, David R. Baughn (wife, Bonnie) of Bedford, Ron A. Baughn (wife, Debbie) of Knoxville, TN and Larry D. Land (wife, Cindy)of Noblesville, IN; daughter, Debbie Hartzler (husband, Jack) of Rushville; sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Jean (Burleigh) Baughn; daughter, Linda Dransfield; son, Albert "Butch" Baughn; brothers, Gentry and Albert Baughn and sisters, Grace Young, Betty Simpson and Harriett Hart.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, April 18th from 4:00-8:00 pm and Friday, April 19th from 10:00-11:00 am at Neal & Summers Funeral & Cremation Center. Rev. Kevin Able will conduct a service celebrating his life beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home and burial with military honors will follow in Liberty Cemetery in Martinsville.
