William P. Daugharty of Saginaw, Michigan, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Luther Manor. Age 95 years. Son of the late William and Marie (Collins) Daugharty, William was born January 16, 1918 in Hancock, Michigan. He married Bessie M. Ross, his loving wife of 66 years, on July 19, 1947. She survives him. William was a State Trooper for the Michigan State Police from 1940 to 1953 and then became a sales representative for many trucking industries and retired from Parker Motor Freight. William was a member of Third Alarm Club, Saginaw Valley Traffic Club, Flint Traffic Club and Stoney Creek Hunting Club. He was also a founder of Carrollton Township Fire Department. William was an avid collector and restorer of antique slot machines for many years and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving besides his wife Bessie are one son, Thomas and Linda Daugharty, Frankenmuth; four grandsons and two great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Betty Ross, Saginaw; his special niece, Marilyn and Charles Lefler, Calabash, North Carolina; several other nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2013 at Countryside Trinity Church, 4690 Weiss Rd., Saginaw. Pastor Kenneth R. Parker will officiate. Private burial will take place in Cook Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty) where the family will be present on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Alzheimer's Foundation or Countryside Trinity Church.
