Edith I. Mathis
Edith I. Mathis, 85, of Mathis Drive, Daniels, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, following a long illness.
Born April 23, 1919, at Raleigh, she was the daughter of the late David Basham and Amanda Vest Basham Boley.
Mrs. Mathis was a homemaker and former employee of Embees Department Store.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Shady Spring.
Mrs. Mathis was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Mathis; granddaughter, Diane Harrington; and a sister, Roselee Swim.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Harrington and husband, Dennis, of Daniels and Sandra Pack and husband, John, of Daniels; six grandchildren, Terri Harvey and husband, Lonnie, John "J.T." Pack and wife, Grace, Danny Harrington and wife, Dee, Ricky Richmond and wife, Carol, Kelly Harrington and Dana Harrington; seven great-grandchildren, Jacquelyn White, Kristan and Zachary Pack, Steven and Destiny Harrington, and Mark and Katelyn Richmond; brother-in-law, Bill Swim of Fayetteville, Ga.; four nieces; and a nephew.
Service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with Elder Tommy Pack officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Grandsons and family will serve as pallbearers.
