Was a member of the Willie Handcart Company but stayed in Council Bluffs before the company left Florence in August 1856. His mother passed away in 1857 and the children were sent to live with various families. Benjamin went to live with the Lewis Beard family of Council Bluffs. Moved to Salt Lake City after 1860 and before his death in 1872.
