He was born May 4, 1935 in Arco, Idaho to Keith C. Andreason and Mary M. Taylor. He grew up in Arco, Idaho. As a boy he spent some time living in the original housing at the Central Facility at the INL site. He graduated from Butte County High School. He received a Bachelor’s degree from Idaho State Univeristy and Master’s degree from University of Idaho, both degrees in Education. He taught school in Arco, Kamiah, Richfield and Mackay. He was School Superintendent at Richfield and Mackay School Districts. He was an educator for 25 years. In all schools, he was very involved in coaching and sports. In his earlier years he was President of the JayCees in Kamiah amd he started a Little League program in Richfield.
He married Jo Ann Nelson August 10, 1956 in Leslie, Idaho. She passed away May 15, 1985. He married Marie Gardner Freeman on September 13. 1985. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple.
After retiring from education, he worked a short time as an agent for Metropolitan Life. He then worked for 13 years as a retirement counselor at Lincoln Court Retirement Center. He was the sports writer and photographer for the Jefferson Star and the Shelley Pioneer for 17 years. He served on the Shelley City Council for 8 years. While on the Shelley City Council he was instrumental in starting the Jazz Basketball program. He enjoyed politics and was a member of the Shelley Economic Development Council.
He was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings including his current calling of High Priest. He loved working with children, his family, golf and all sports and photography.
Survivors include his wife, Marie of Shelley, 5 sons and 4 daughters: Jaime (Tammie) Andreason of Pocatello, Dan (Vicki) Andreason of Idaho Falls, Mike (Cindy) Andreason of Meridian, Scott (Becky) Freeman of Blackfoot, Terry (Marcene) Freeman of Blackfoot, Shelly (Ted) Corder of Post Falls, Annie Andreason of Shelley, Nollene (Drew) Jensen of Firth and Marcia (Dean) McCarrell of Blackfoot. Brother Keith Andreason of Mackay, Sisters Delieth (Jim) Stevenson of Rigby, Judy (Ray) Hamilton of Arco. He has 26 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Jo Ann, 2 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 30 at the Shelley Stake Center (325 East Locust) with Bishop Barry Hanson officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, April 29 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. and Saturday morning 9:30 until 10:40 both at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley.
