David James Agar, 64, of Fergus Falls, passed away after a courageous battle with Cancer on Tuesday evening, April 2, 2013, at Lake Region Healthcare, surrounded by his loving family.

David was born on February 26, 1949 to Dwayne "Dan" and Agnes "Peg" Agar (O'Neill). He grew up in the town of Browns Valley where he and his brothers worked at the family's restaurant and Dance coliseum. He graduated from Browns Valley High School in 1967. He then enlisted into the Navy in a branch called the Navy Seabees and fought in the Vietnam War. Upon returning home from the war he went to school in Fergus Falls at the community college. While in college he met his future wife Ramona "Penny" Wellbrock.

On July 8, 1972 David and Penny were wed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. David began working at the Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug counselor. He continued to work for the Treatment Center through the transition to the Community Addiction Recovery Enterprise (CARE) where he remained as a supervisor until his death. He worked as a LADC for over 30 years and made an impact in numerous people's life, making it his life's work to help people beat their addictions.

David enjoyed hunting with his sons, brothers-in-law, and nephew. He loved to be at the lake and greatly enjoyed fishing. One of his favorite pastimes was camping with his family. He also enjoyed making trips to the casino, playing cards with friends, and watching sports on TV with his oldest son Davey. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his only grandchild, Madelyn. Madelyn and David shared a special bond, and he held her very close in his heart. David was a kind, generous, and positive person and his humor and laugh would light up the room.

David leaves behind his wife of 40 years Penny Agar, son Dave Agar, daughter Tammy (Troy) Bauer, daughter Stacey (Tom Schmidt, son Treton Schmidt) Agar, son Shawn Agar, granddaughter Madelyn Bauer; brothers: Dennis (Peg) Agar, Richard Agar, Dannel (Lynn) Agar, Rev. Tim Agar, Brian (TC) Agar; mother-in-law, Evelyn Wellbrock; brothers and sisters-in-law: Sharon (Joe) Mauer, Mardelle (Dale) Jacobson, Cindy (Dennis) Johnson, and Debbie Wellbrock; mother-in-law, Evelyn Wellbrock; numerous nieces and nephews: Joey (Darlin) Mauer, Tom Mauer, Heidi Stengrim, Jason Johnson, Jill (Matt) Miller, Tina Johnson, Molly Johnson, Danielle Wellbrock, Sasha Wellbrock-Benn, Brianna Wellbrock, Hele (Russ) Prill, Angie (Tony) Rubasch, Marc (Lori) Agar, Mike (Amy) Agar, Dan (Julie) Agar, Chrissie Agar, Cassie Agar, Hudson (Stephanie) Agar, Brady Agar, Alex Agar, Kyle (Ellie) Agar, Briana (Nathan) Johnson, Chris LePage, Courtney Agar, Rachel Flynn; "Brother" Robert Flynn; aunts and uncles: Delores Rose, Donna Agar, Phil and Viv O'Neill, Jean O'Neill, Ken and Helen Swanson, Bill Herber, John and Rose Perra; numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews; and countless friends, and loved ones.

Preceding him in death were his father Dwayne "Dan" Agar, his mother Peg Agar, his sister Kathy Agar, his brother Father Tom Agar, and his father-in-law Dennis Wellbrock.

Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with 5 p.m. rosary and parish prayers, followed by a time of sharing.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Fergus Falls
Interment: Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Fergus Falls
