Funeral rites for Mrs. Willie Hoover Lester, widow of John Wallace Lester, son of one of the pioneer residents of Jackson, who died at her home on the Terry road Wednesday, were held Thursday from the Capitol Street Methodist church with burial following in Greenwood cemetery.

Mrs. Lester, a native of Yazoo county, married John Wallace Lester 51 years ago and moved to Jackson. Mr. Lester’s father, Sterling Henry Lester, came to Jackson about 1850. A Christian woman, Mrs. Lester was highly respected in this community, led a useful life, and her family was widely connected. Dr. B. M. Hunt, pastor of the Capitol Street Methodist church of which she was a member, officiated at the services, assisted by Dr. H. F. Brooks of Greenwood and Dr. H. M. King of Jackson.

Surviving her are five children, Miss Laura R. Lester, principal of Poindexter school, Herbert H. Lester of Dayton, Ohio, Miss Annie Lester of the Central High school faculty, Garner M. Lester of Jackson, and William Wallace Lester of New York City; two grandchildren, Herbert Lester of Dayton, Ohio, and Elizabeth McConnico Lester of Jackson; three brothers, W. L.
