Patricia Anne (Siglin) Bergna, resident of Saratoga, passed away on April 21, 2012. Pat was the loving wife of the late Louis P. Bergna, who was the District Attorney of Santa Clara County for 25 years. She was the dear mother of Louanne (Jerry) Quilici of San Jose; Peter Bergna of Carson City, NV; David Bergna of San Jose; and Maryellen (John) Basanese of Hollister. Her nine grandchildren include Lauren Quilici (Travis Hinkle); Tessa (Justin) Parks; Christina (Ben) Graves; Johnny (Anna), Jeremy (Josie), Justin, Michaela and Josh Basanese; and Julia Martinez. She also had several great-grandchildren. Pat was the daughter of Wesley P. ("Paddy") Siglin, a professional baseball player, and Mary K. (Lynch) Siglin. Her sister was Stell Hill. Pat was born in San Francisco, CA and lived in San Jose as a child where she attended Hester Elementary, Hoover Junior High, and Los Gatos High School. She attended San Jose State University, where she was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority and the Black Masque Honorary Society. A talented musician, Pat played several instruments. Following graduation, Pat became a teacher and taught at Evergreen and Willow Glen elementary schools in San Jose. After she married in 1945 and started a family, Pat's time was devoted to her family and to volunteer activities, including Law Advocates (Lawyers' Wives) and Ladies of Charity. She was a member of many golf groups, and had belonged to La Rinconada, Saratoga, and Monterey Peninsula country clubs. Pat loved to travel and had visited many countries; she enjoyed experiencing different cultures. A resident of Saratoga since 1958, Pat was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. After she was widowed, she moved to the Saratoga Retirement Community in 2005 and was involved in several activities and travelled on many trips while living there. In accordance with the Deceased's wishes, no public funeral service or memorial will be held. Donations in her honor may be made to Heartland Hospice or to a favorite charity.
