Huldah Emma Weiss Friesen, 87, of Henderson, Neb., formerly of Quakertown, died Monday, Oct. 5, in Henderson Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Emil W. Friesen and Russell Weiss.

A teacher, she spent many years serving in the missionary field at Presbyterian High School, Bogota, Columbia, and the Mennonite General Conference School, Cachipay, Columbia.

Previously she taught at Grace Bible Institute, Omaha, Neb., for 7-1/2 years, serving as librarian and teaching Christian education classes. She was a teacher and dean of girls at Meno Bible Academy, Meno, Okla., for three years and a teacher at the Mennonite Bible Academy, Beatrice, Neb., for two years.

She started her career teaching grades 1-4 at the former Spinnerstown School for 12 years.

Born in Bucks County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph M. and Elizabeth (Michael) Myers.

A member of Bethesda Mennonite Church, Henderson, she was elected the first church deaconess in 1974. She served on the ministerial council and church board of Bethesda and was the church visitor to the elderly and widowed.

She was a former member of West Swamp Mennonite Church, Quakertown.

Survivors: Stepson, William H. Weiss of Allentown, and two grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday, West Swamp Mennonite Church. Call 10-11 a.m. Monday in church Arrangements, C.R. Strunk Funeral Home, Quakertown.
