Mrs Frances Cleveland Abernathy of Route 1, Fredericktown, was born on Oct 23, 1888, in Libertyville. She died on Sept 27, at Farmington Community Hospital. She was 81.

Mrs. Abernathy married the late Lester Jonathan Sidney Abernathy on 29 June 1911 in Madison County. Her parents were Sarah Elizabeth (Ste. Gemme) & James Washington Banes.

Surviving children include: Mrs. Eileen Firebaugh and Mrs. Marguerite Whitworth of Fredericktown, and J E Abernathy of Peoria, IL.

Surviving brothers and sisters include: Mayme Herman, Leadwood; Mrs Flora Whitworth, Farmington, George Banes, Fredericktown, Gertrude Banes, Jefferson City; Emily Woods, Gillespie, IL.; J.W. Banes, Fredericktown and Mrs Christine Coffman, Ozawkie, KS.

Mrs Abernathy is also survived by eight grandchildren.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Fredericktown. Burial was in the Old Masonic Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Hartenberger officiating. The Wilson Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
