Bobby was born and raised in Arkansas. His family lived on the Dyess colony, where they worked very hard and made lifelong friends. He served 2 years in the US Army, with a tour in Germany. After returning from his tour, and in order to gain a fresh start back in the US, he spent time on an Indian reservation out west. His adventures then brought him to Illinois, where he married his penpal, Virgene.
The two of them built a home together and raised Troy, Ryan, and Rachel. Aside from working as a welder and millwright, Bobby spent a great deal of time penning his thoughts and ideas. These writings, all influenced by his adventurous spirit and life experiences, led him to invent the PowerSlide, create medal scultpures, and more importantly, to leave a written legacy of beautifully crafted stories and poems.
Bobby was a charmer. He loved to dance. He loved to give hugs. And, he made everyone he met smile.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2013, in the chapel of Cremation Society of Illinois, 6825 Weaver Road, Rockford, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. till time of service.
