Lois Esther Bittle, age 75, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at the Central Arkansas Hospital in Searcy. Born in Marion, Indiana, on May 7, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Lois (Hall) Shook. A former resident of Oakland City, Indiana, Mrs. Bittle moved to Heber Springs in 1973. She was a high school English teacher and retired from Heber Springs High School in 1994. Mrs. Bittle was a member of the Eastern Star, and she enjoyed reading and working cross word puzzles. She was a member of the Concord General Baptist Church. Mrs. Bittle was preceded in death by one son, Rusty Banter; her parents; one brother, Robert Shook; and two sisters, Mary Oswalt and Marcella Goodpastor. She is survived by one son, Jay Bittle and his wife, Christy, of Heber Springs; three daughters, Sandy Pitman and her husband, Charlie, of Greenbrier, Sharon Duvall and her husband, Jack, of Russellville, and Cindy Wilson and her husband, Herman, of Tumbling Shoals; five grandchildren, Jake and his wife, Jennifer, of Greenbrier, Nikki of Tumbling Shoals, Lucas of Russellville, Rich and Gary; three great-grandchildren, Kayden and Skylar of Greenbrier and Jennings; two brothers, Dick Shook and his wife, Ish, Larry Shook and his wife, Linda, two sisters, Joyce Hawkins and Judy Brennemen, all of Marion, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 5, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 6, at 1:00 p.m. in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. Dwight Decker officiating. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
