Randy was the son of Jess and Gail (stepmother, biological mother deceased) Moore. He graduated Forney High School in 1972 and was in his second year of college. He was a Forney Volunteer Fireman. He received a call in the early morning hours on January 2, 1973 to help put out the fire at Forney Supermarket. John Darden was also a Volunteer Fireman. Randy said, "John I hear something falling," and pushed John out of the way. The awning collapsed and hit Randy on the head. He died shortly after. He saved, John's life that morning. It was my junior year at Forney High School. The School allowed students to attend the funeral. He was survived by his parents, Jess and Gail, brothers Little Jess, Michael and sisters Kurstin (sp?) and Kelly.
