A memorial service for Steven Roy "Goldie" Goldenstein, 59, of Danforth, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Danforth, where he was a member. The Rev. James Gerth will officiate.
Military rites will be provided by the Aroma Park American Legion Post 1019.
Following the military rites friends may meet with the family at St. John's Lutheran Church.


Steven died Friday (May 16, 2008) at his home.

Mr. Goldenstein worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation in Ashkum and had also been a paramedic for many years at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. He was also a member of the Danforth Fire Department.

He was born Aug. 21, 1948, in Watseka, the son of Roy N. and Lorraine E. Miller Goldenstein. His childhood was spent in Danforth and Ashkum. He was a 1967 graduate of Gilman High School.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving with the 173rd Airborne Brigade from 1967 to 1968.

Surviving are his wife, the former Teri Marcotte, whom he married June 16, 2005, in the Ozarks, Mo.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Steven Tyler Goldenstein of Danforth, Aaron and Sheri Goldenstein of Vienna; two daughters, Stephanie Marcotte of Austin, Texas, Kelly Marcotte of Naperville; his father of Danforth; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Janet and Chuck Morris of South Fulton, Tenn., Gayle and Mike Miller of Sheldon, Teresa Pence and Brian of Danforth, Julie and Terry Hummel of Crescent City; and many nieces and nephews.

His mother is deceased.

Pallbearer was Ret. 1st Sgt. U.S. Army Joseph Barstow. Honorary pallbearers were Ray Maki, Randy Johnson, Jim and Larry Eden, and Tom Strohschein.
