HARTLY - Joseph Abbate passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Kent General Hospital. Mr. Abbate was born Oct. 18, 1935 in Wyoming, Del. to the late John Abbate and Frances Aiosa Abbate. He served in the United States Army, was employed by Davis and Butler and the Dover Air Force Base Exchange. Mr. Abbate spent most of his life in Hartly, Del. as a farmer. He had attended Calvery Assembly of God's Church in Dover, Del. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Regina Abbate; and his brother, Angelo Abbate Sr. He is survived by daughter, Jennifer Collier; sister, Teresa Abbate Brown; brother, Anthony Abbate; grandsons, Charles and Joseph McGuire; and three great-grandchildren; also surviving, his former wife, Joyce Abbate. A memorial service will be held at noon on Monday, April 22, 2013 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt. 10) Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society , 92 Reads Way, #205, New Castle, DE 19720.
