Julia A. Hays
Funeral services for Julia A. Hays, 87, whose death occurred Wednesday, November 4, 1936, at the home of her granddaughter. Mrs. J.C. Benger, south of Drumright, Ok., were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the First Christian church in Cushing.
Burial was in Fairlawn cemetery, Stillwater.
Julia Ann Crosby, daughter of Joseph and Mary Jane Barchus Crosby, was born November 7, 1849, in Licking county, Ohio, where on December 3, 1866, she was married to Thomas J. Hays. To them were born two children, Mary Jane, who died in infancy, and John William Hays, who preceeded her in death by sixteen years.
She leaves besides her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ida Hays, five grandchildren namely, Dee Jay Hays, Ransom, Kan., R.B. Hays, Altus; Della Hays Berger, Drumright and Ernest E. Hays, of Ventura, Calif.. Also three brothers, Albert Crosby of Latty, O., who is 89 years of age. Thomas H. Crosby, who is 82, and George W. Crosby of Los Angeles, Cal., who is 80 years of age and six great-grandchildren survive.
Mrs. Hays has been a member of the Christian church for fifty-two years. She came to Oklahoma with her husband in 1889 settling on a farm thirteen miles west of Oklahoma City where they lived until 1901 when they moved to Harrah. They lived at Harrah until 1904 when Mr. Hays died.
In 1910 she moved to Stillwater living here until 1922 when she moved to Cushing where she has since lived.
