Mr. Deming and his wife, Vera M., had been living in Florida since 1955.
It was in 1918 that he was elevated from substitute carrier to postmaster of Rocky River. His staff of one carrier and Mrs. Deming, who served as clerk for $11 a month, supplied mail service to the 1,800 residents of the then small community.
Through the years, Mr. Deming's responsibilities and his staff grew as Rocky River, Westlake and Bay Village expanded. When he retired, his staff had grown to include 18 carriers, four clerks and two supervisors.
He was a charter member of the Rocky River Masonic Lodge 703 and several Masonic groups in Eustis, FL.
His son, Theodore L., is captain of the Rocky River Fire Department. Also surviving are his wife, a son, S Parks Deming; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Services will be today in Florida.
