Obituary

PATTERSON, JR., DR. RUSSELL J., 73, died on April 10, 2013, at Morton Plant Hospital. Born in Maine, Dr. Patterson received his Doctor of Osteopathy from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1965 in Kirksville, Missouri. Dr. Patterson came to Clearwater in 1967 and was a proud founder of Suncoast Family Medical Associates, a board certified private practice in Largo. He was Chief of Staff at Sun Coast Hospital of Largo for two years before retiring in 2005, having spent 38 years dedicated to caring for bay area families. Russell played trumpet in the Dixie Doc's Jazz Band for 21 years (1965-1986). He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Russell J. Patterson, Sr.; mother, Faith Patterson and brother ,Dr. Robert Patterson. He is survived by his adoring wife, Viviane Patterson; loving children, John Scott, Cynthia, and Leanna; dedicated step-children, Philippe, Karinne, and Stephanie and five wonderful grandchildren, Daniel, Sarah, Zachary, Sarah and Samuel. Visitation will be held 5-7 pm Sunday at Moss Feaster Serenity Gardens Chapel, Largo. A funeral service will be held 11:30 am Monday at the Lakeside mausoleum Chapel at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park, Largo. Memorial contributions may be made to the Suncoast Osteopathic Foundation, Inc, 2101 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774 or to the American Cancer Society.
