Alma Francis Walters Hubbard, 76, Henderson, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013, at her home under the care of St. Anthony's Hospice.

Mrs. Hubbard was born in 1936 to a large family of seven girls and three boys. She was raised in the mountains and considered herself to be a "tomboy." Alma worked in various industries for over 30 years and retired from Gamco after 20 years. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and canning food. She was an avid quilter, a talent she inherited from her mother. In her later years Alma, also enjoyed word search games, Yahtzee and she loved Elvis.

Alma was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Homer Hubbard; her parents, George and Della Walters; two sisters, Betty Daffron and Rosie Hall; and two brothers, Fred and Kay Walters.

Survivors include one daughter, Wanda Helmick and her husband, Rick, of Henderson; two sons, Robert Hubbard and his wife, Jerrie, and Mark Hubbard and Frank Ruiz, both Henderson; four sisters, Darlene McFadden of London, Ky., Thelma Marshall of Noblesville, Ind., Mary Fleming of Apopka, Fla., and Dorothy Garrison of Monticello, Ky.; one brother, Anderson Walters of Somerset, Ky.; four grandsons; four great-grandsons; nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to Alma's Life Celebration from 2 to 8 p.m. today and again Wednesday starting at 11 a.m. until service time at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Hollis Marshall will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in Henderson.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony's Hospice or charity of choice.
