Evelyn June was the 10 child born to William & Goldie Kagy.
Evelyn was a quiet and yet simple person who loved her family very much. She put her family first at all times. The following was written by her Daughter Annie She was very close to her mother.

Mom loved her family very much no matter what. As like the rest of the Kagy girls she was a great cook. Although she cooked she loved cooking all kinds of foods. But everyone family & friends loved those baked goods mostly bread, cinnamon rolls & cinnamon twists. Mom also made the best pie crusts & fillings ever always flaky. Mom in her early days of being married she canned everything she could.

Mom was so kind hearted she would give you the shirt off her back.

Mom rarely said anything bad thing about anyone, even when they deserved a big kick in the butt and a stern lecture. Mom kept her frustrations inside which as we know is not a good thing. That is why I called a lot because I would listen & not judge, just be a shoulder she could lean on... I would visit often, we be able to hug each a lot & talk about things she was not able or willing to talk with anyone else about. I will always love her & miss her so much. Annie

I remember my Aunt Evelyn as one who like so many of the other Kagy girls just stand back and watch.Evelyn was one who loved to give out of what she had. I saw her lovingly give away her home made canned food and freshly baked bread to those who needed help. She would give it with a smile and say I wish I had more to give. To see that it was love at its best in my opinion.

She like her sister Nellie was gifted with making the most remarkable homemade bread and pies. She like so many of their other siblings had the gift of preparing simple and tasty cooking. She worked as a chef at many restaurants. She always loved cooking and serving delicious food to many including all the relatives and friends which was many.
The thing that I remember the most about Evelyn was that she was quiet which was louder than words for she was wise to those who asked. She was soft spoken but knew when to stand up for her loved ones.

She volunteered to stay by the side of her closest sister and best friend Nellie. She was the first to step in and help her when Nellie became blind due to the complications of diabetes. She tended to her every need. They were so close for it was amazing to watch and when Nellie suddenly passed she was lost for some time.

Evelyn passed away from the complications cancer which reemerged because she survived breast cancer just 20 years prior.
Evelyn was my Aunt and I want others to know what a remarkable woman that she was. Her memory will live on for she touched so many.
