"no gravestone marker; information from cemetery records"

Sue Hale Sheppard, who created this memorial naming it "Infant Kabrich," added the information above. When I saw this memorial, I recognized the parents' names - they were my paternal grandparents. I knew the parents were buried in Christiansburg, VA, along with 4 daughters. Their two sons, my father and uncle, are buried in Arlington National Cemetery after faithful service to their country. I thought that's all there were, until I found this memorial. I knew other Kabrichs lived in the Wythe area and thought perhaps this was a mistake. Then, I found some old family pictures and saw the picture of little Sallie Ethel that you see here. I started digging until I found a record of her birth, in Logan, West Virginia, and I knew I had found "Infant Kabrich's" name. Except for one person's kindness to preserve the record of a life, and another person's diligence in recording the name of the baby in the picture, the family may have lost this child from their collective memory. Thank you, Sue Hale Sheppard, for helping my family remember this precious child.
