A vigil service for Virginia M.(Brethour) Gillis of Bellingham will be at 7 tonight at Jones-Moles funeral home, with Kathy Ernst officiating. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic church, with burial following in Bayview Cemetery. Mrs. Gillis died Monday Aug. 21 2000, in Bellingham. She was 87.
Born Feb. 15, 1913, to David and Sadie (Durkin) Brethour in Saulte Ste. Marie, Ontario, she was a lifetime Whatcom County resident. Mrs. Gillis was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, Mary Knight, St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary and Catholic Daughters. Her Husband, John A. Gillis, died in 1980.
Survivors include son Michael Gillis of Bellingham and nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made either to Assumption Catholic Church, 2116 Cornwall Ave; Bellingham Wa 98225; or the Laurendau Foundation for Cancer Care P.O. Box 157, Bellingham, WA 98227.
