Milton Harold Heitman (1920 - 2012)

Milton Harold Heitman, age 92 years, died on April 29, 2012, at St. John's Medical Center, Oxnard.

He was born on Feb. 21, 1920, in Dubuque, Iowa, and graduated from Senior High School in 1938. He enlisted in the Navy in 1940 and retired as a Lt. Commander in 1970, having flown for 27 years as a Naval Aviation Pilot. He proudly served his country during WWII, the Korean and Viet Nam era.

Following military service he worked in Federal Civil Service as an Engineering Technician until January 1985, completing 44 years dedicated to his country. "Heit" was a member of the Silver Eagles Association (Navy Enlisted Pilots), Fleet Reserve Association - National and Oxnard Branch 120. He was lifetime member of the Retired Officers Association - National and Ventura County Chapters, and a member of St. Anthony's Parish, Oxnard, since 1959.

Heit is survived by his loving wife, Kay, and their two sons, John (Constance) and Robert (Cyndy). He had three grandchildren, Gregory, Elisabeth and Jeffery, and four great-grandchildren, Juliet, Madelyn, Nick [Nicholas] and Chole (sic/Chloe). Heit is preceded in death by one brother and three sisters; he also leaves one sister, Genevieve Cummer, in Normal, Ill.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Milton Harold Heitman will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 11, at St. Anthony's Church. Burial will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery, 2370 North H St., Oxnard.

It is requested that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association ; St. Anthony's Church, 2511 South C St., Oxnard 93033; or the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, Naval Base Ventura County, 2600 Dodson St., Suite 1, Port Hueneme, CA 93043; or your favorite charity .
