From The Delaware Gazette, December 21, 1906 - Joseph Arbor Murray was born in Northumberland Co, PA, November 21, 1821 and died December 17, 1906, aged 85 yr of Bright's [kidney] disease. He was married twice: First to Nancy Drake, who died of so called "milk sickness" some 15 years later; then to Elizabeth Deppler, who survives him. He lived in Bluffton, Allen Co, OH for 60 years. Dr. F. M. Murray is the only survivor of the first family. The oldest son was the late surgeon Robert D. [Drake] Murray, of the U.S. Marine Hospital service. Four sons and two daughters by the second marriage live at Bluffton, OH, and a daughter in Kansas. All are married.
