Knight of Blackhall, Botcheby and Stainton, Cumberland. In right of his wife, of Burgh St Margaret, Horsford and Great Hautbois, Norfolk, of Wrentham, Suffolk and of Hurstpierpoint, Sussex.

First husband of Amy Ufford, daughter of Sir robert de Ufford and Eleanor de Felton. They had two daughters, Elizabeth and Sybil.

Sir William was taken prisoner at the Battle of Beauge in France on 22 March 1421 in the Hundred Year War and died soon after. His widow would remarry to Sir Henry Inglose of Norfolk.
