David R. Mitchell was married to my mother's sister, Mary Mitchell, who was always called Mame. As far as I know he lived most of his life in Scranton PA although I don't know anything about his early life. Aunt Mame and Uncle Dave lived across the street from us in Scranton so I always saw quite a bit of them. They had no children of their own so they were always very good to my brother and I.
Dave worked as an optician all his life and made all the eyeglasses that were needed in our family, including mine.
I particularly recall that he enjoyed smoking his pipe and that the smell of Prince Albert tobacco was a part of him.
He was a quiet but very pleasant man.
In the 1960s he and Mame relocated to east central Florida where he spent the rest of his life. I was with him when he quietly passed away.
