Dr. Raymond Hale, of Arendtsville, entered into God's Heavenly Kingdom April 29 in New Oxford.

He was a son of the late Raymond Sr. and Mamie Fogelsonger Hale.

Dr. Hale was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Arendtsville. He graduated from Juniata College and Jefferson Medical School. Accompanied by his wife, Mary Margaret "Peg" Hale, he came to Arendtsville in 1940, where he practiced family medicine with his brother-in-law, Dr. W. North Sterrett, for 43 years. Dr. Hale was a member and secretary of the Adams County Medical Society. He served as a delegate to the Pennsylvania Medical Society and was appointed to the Susquehanna Regional Medical Planning Commission. Dr. Hale served as head of Obstetrical Services at Gettysburg Hospital for six years. Following his retirement, he continued to volunteer on committees at three local nursing homes and the Arendtsville Municipal Water Authority. Dr. Hale was a member and past president of the Upper Adams School Board. He was a mason and a member of the Zembo Shrine.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margaret "Peg" Hale and is survived by one son, William Hale of Arendtsville; three daughters, Ann Hale Hartzel of Plymouth, MN, Nancy Hale Chess of Kalamazoo, MI and Susan Hale Lockley of Manlius, NY; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
