Dr. E. Ackerman Dies Unexpectedly
Dr. Emmett Ackerman, 67, Muscoda, died unexpectedly Sunday, July 13, at the Richland Center Hospital after suffering a heart attack at home. Born August 4, 1907 in Eden Valley, Minn., he graduated from the Gays Mills high school in 1924. He celebrated his 50 year high school reunion in Sept. 1974. He attended St. John's College in Collegeville, Minn., from 1924 to 1926. He entered the University of Wisconsin Medical School in 1927 graduating in 1931.
He also served at the Lying-in Hospital, Chicago, in 1930-31. He interned in 1931-32 at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac. In 1932 he started his own practice in Gays Mills. In 1942 he moved to Muscoda and started an office where he had been active ever since.
He was married to Louise Meyer on July 3, 1948. He was Muscoda health officer, a member of the Muscoda Chamber of Commerce and was picked their Man of the Year in 1974. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, and the Grant County, Wisconsin and American Medical Associations. Survivors include his wife Louise: aunts and uncles and
cousins; and two sisters-in-law Dorothy and Lucille Meyer, both of Reedsburg.
Funeral services were held at the St. John's Catholic Church, Tuesday, July 15, with Rev. Laverne Meier officiating. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery. The Godager Funeral Home was in charge of final arrangements.
