Graettinger – Services for Blanchard A. Jacobson, 85, of Graettinger will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bethel Lutheran Church with Pastor Wilbur Holz officiating. Interment will be in High Lake Cemetery at Wallingford. He died Sunday, April 17, 1994 at Holy Family Hospital.

Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Graettinger.

He was born Feb. 12, 1909 at Graettinger, the son of Baste and Gudve (Knutson) Jacobson and attended country school near high Lake. He operated a restaurant in Emmetsburg with his sister a year before his marriage to Lily Bird Sandvig on March 15, 1936 at Graettinger. Following marriage he started farming south of High Lake. He farmed until retiring in 1974. In 1975 the couple moved into Graettinger.

He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and a former church council member. He was also a member of the Graettinger Senior Citizens and past member of High Lake Cemetery Board of Directors.

Survivors include sons David of Graettinger and Donald of Maple Grove, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Carl Jacobson of Cave Junction, Ore.; three sisters, Mildred Miller and Guida DeGroote of Santa Paula, Calif., and Mrs. Jim (Olga) Jobe, Laguna Hills, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his wife May 11, 1977; parents; step-mother; son; daughter, three brothers and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 20, 1994)
