Obituaries:
David Reed Baird was born in Ohio, January 19, 1843, he enlisted in the army at the age of 17, and served the remainder of the war. After an illness of seven months, he died at his home at Jerico Springs, Mo., September 12, 1927. He leaves a wife, six children, 27 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren besides a number of other relatives and friends to mourn his death. Charles, Dave and Claud Baird of Jerico Springs, Mrs. W. C. Bryson, Mrs. Jonah Frieze and Mrs. Chas. Jones of Stockton. All that human aid and loving hands could do was done but to no avail, for as he said himself, "Why will mere man try to cheat God at his own game for he will have things his own way in his own time. I shall therefore bear my sufferings patiently." A very impressive funeral service was conducted at the M.E. Church, after which the body was carried to rest at the Omer Cemetery, there to await the resurrection morning. A precious one from us is gone, A voice we loved is still. A place is vacant in our home which never can be filled.
