Francis M. "Babe" Bare, 76, of Piggott died Sunday, Feb. 6, at NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro.

A retired employee of Brown Shoe Co., he was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and in several other capacities.

Surviving are two daughters, Sheila Kirk of Pollard and Billie Plunk of Piggott; one son, Butch Bare of Piggott; one sister, Susie Hayden of Concord, Calif.; five grandchildren, Lisa Gifford, Dennis Kirk, Amy Burkman, Tracy Kaskey and Kelly Bare; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ellis Bare; his parents, John Harry and Margaret Jane "Jenny" Templeton Bare; nine brothers; and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Irby Funeral Home at Piggott, with Charles Carrens and Loy Culver officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Justin Oliver, Mark Howell, Marty Conley, Tom Gross, Jim Chandler, Steve Baker and Gaylon Burkman.

Honorary pallbearers will include Grover Baker, Maynard Morris, Melvin Holifield, Fred Gross, Johnny Howell, Devon Young and Johnny Brawner.
