RUBY MARIE ROEMER, 83, of 211 Lamberton St., Rocky Grove, died at 10:25 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 2002, in UPMC Northwest, Franklin. Born October 3, 1918, in Franklin, she was a daughter of John Fremont and Gertrude Elsie MacDonnell Boyer. She was a 1936 graduate of Rocky Grove High School. She later obtained a teaching degree from Edinboro University and Clarion University. Mrs. Roemer taught school in Oakland Township and Dempseytown as well as other locations in Pennsylvania and Ohio, depending on where her husband was located as a pastor of the Church of God. In later years, she was a substitute teacher. She was a member of the Fox Street Church of God in Rocky Grove where she did volunteer work and taught Sunday school. Mrs. Roemer also was a member of the Faith Promise Group and the Franklin Civic League. She enjoyed traveling, playing games and quilting. Mrs. Roemer was married October 8, 1939, to the Rev. Donald Gordon Roemer, who survives. Also surviving are a son and his wife, David J. and Mary Lou Roemer of Horseheads, NY; a daughter and her husband, Donna Kay and James Cossell of Connellsville; and eight grandchildren, Rhonda Stephani and her husband, Michael, of Horseheads, NY, Sandy Myers and her husband, Glenn, of Chester Springs, Douglas Roemer and his wife, Tina, of Pinehurst, NC, Angela Mitchell and her husband, Keith, of Belleview, FL, Tammy Lerch and her husband, Matt, of Shippenville, Stephen Black and Troy Cossell of Atlanta, GA, and Tara Clark and her husband, David, of Indianapolis, In. She also is survived by a sister, Esther Luethel Geer of Franklin; two brothers, Evan Carlyle Boyer of Oil City and James Leo Boyer of Commerce City, CO; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Roemer was preceded in death by five sisters, Elsie Iona Eldridge, Anna Audine Bloom, Grace Vera Boyer, Ruth Leona Divil and Verna Maxine Proctor; and two brothers, Glenn Sylvester Boyer and Boyd Edward Boyer. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Fox Street Church of God, 229 Fox St., Rocky Grove, with the Rev. Philip R. Conklin, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Franklin Cemetery.
